The Trouble with Relying on Other People's Peptide Cheat Sheets
I used to save every peptide dosing chart I found on Reddit, until I realized how easily those blurry JPEGs can mess up your lab math.
Go ahead and open the photo library on your phone. If you are anything like me, somewhere between the pictures of your dog and your receipts is a graveyard of blurry, cropped screenshots. They are tables, grids, and color-coded charts collected from the depths of Reddit, Discord, and various fitness forums.
For a long time, I treated those screenshots like sacred texts. Whenever I was prepping a new research project, I would swipe through my gallery, find the chart that matched my compound, and follow the little colorful rows. It felt safe. It felt organized.
Then I actually sat down and did the math myself, and I realized how close I was to making some massive, ridiculous mistakes.
I do not use those screenshots anymore. In fact, I deleted the whole folder. Here is why those handy little cheat sheets are actually a liability, and why relying on some stranger's graphic design skills is a shortcut you probably want to stop taking.
The Illusion of the Professional Infographic
Human beings love a good graphic. If you write out a complex mathematical formula in plain text, our brains turn off. But if you put that exact same formula into a neat, navy-blue grid with a clean sans-serif font and maybe a little icon of a syringe next to it, we instantly trust it.
We assume that whoever designed the graphic must have done their homework. We think, surely, someone who knows how to use Adobe Illustrator or Canva would not publish incorrect data.
But let us be real for a second. The person who made that graphic is just another anonymous researcher on the internet. They might have been tired, they might have made a typo, or they might have been working with a completely different set of assumptions than you are. I have seen charts floating around the internet for years that have blatant, math-shattering typos in them, yet they keep getting reposted because they look professional.
When we screenshot these charts, we strip away all the context. We do not know who made them, what their background is, or if they corrected their mistakes in the comments section five minutes after uploading the image.
The Three Variables That Ruin Everything
Every single peptide dosing chart you find online has to make assumptions. To build a grid, the creator has to freeze certain variables in place. Usually, they assume three things: the total milligrams of the peptide in your vial, the exact amount of bacteriostatic water you used to reconstitute it, and the size of the syringe you are using.
If even one of those variables does not match what is sitting on your desk, the entire chart becomes useless, or worse, dangerous.
Let us say you have a chart that tells you exactly how many units to pull for a specific microgram dose. It looks simple. But that chart was built assuming a 5mg vial reconstituted with 2ml of water. If you happen to have a 10mg vial, or if you decided to use 3ml of water because you wanted to stretch the volume, the numbers on that screenshot are completely wrong.
If you blindly follow the chart, you are either going to underdose your research subject, wasting your time, or you are going to massively overdose them.
There is also the syringe issue. Most charts assume you are using a standard U-100 syringe, where 100 units equals 1ml. But what if you have U-40 syringes? Or what if you are using a 0.5ml syringe and misinterpreting the tick marks? A single screenshot cannot account for what is actually in your hands. It can only account for what the creator had in their hands when they made it.
The Telephone Game of Peptide Forums
Peptide communities are great for sharing general experiences, but they are terrible for maintaining the integrity of data. What starts as a chart meant for one specific compound often gets shared, cropped, and reposted in threads about entirely different compounds.
I once saw a screenshot of a dosing guide that was originally created for a very dilute, low-concentration peptide. Someone had reposted it in a thread about a highly concentrated research compound. If a beginner had followed that chart, they would have administered ten times the intended amount.
Because images are so easy to share, they lose their warnings. The original post might have had a long caption explaining that this was a highly specific protocol for a particular laboratory setup, but by the time the screenshot reaches your phone, all of that warning text is gone. You just have the grid.
We have to remember that these are research-only compounds. They do not come with FDA-approved insert sheets or standardized dosing cups. Because the research is always shifting and highly individual, trying to standardize it into a single, one-size-fits-all JPEG is fundamentally flawed.
Doing Your Own Homework is Easier Than You Think
I get why we do this. Peptide math makes people nervous. When you start talking about converting milligrams to micrograms, and then translating that into tiny tick marks on a syringe, it is easy to get overwhelmed. We use screenshots because we want to outsource the anxiety of getting it wrong.
But outsourcing your math to an anonymous forum user is not the solution.
Instead of saving screenshots, I forced myself to actually learn the math. It took me about twenty minutes of focused reading to finally understand how the ratio of mass to volume works.
If you know the total milligrams in your vial, and you know how many milliliters of liquid you put into it, you can always figure out the concentration. From there, you just use a basic calculator to find your target dose. No guesswork, no matching up colored lines on a sketchy graphic, and no relying on someone else's math skills.
There are plenty of reliable, interactive peptide calculators online where you can plug in your exact numbers: your vial size, your diluent volume, and your desired dose. These are much safer than static screenshots because they force you to actively input your specific variables. They make you think about what you are doing, rather than just mindlessly matching up your syringe to a picture on your screen.
Clear Your Gallery
If you still have those screenshots saved, do yourself a favor and delete them. They are a security blanket that does more harm than good.
Researching these compounds requires precision. It requires you to know exactly what is going into your vials and exactly what is coming out of them. A pretty infographic might save you two minutes of thinking, but in the long run, it is a shortcut that is just not worth the risk.
