Reconstitution Is Where Most People Go Wrong
Nearly every confused message I get is not really about a peptide. It is about arithmetic. Someone says a dose "felt like nothing," or "felt like way too much," and when we walk it back, the compound was fine. The mixing was the problem. They put a different volume of water in the vial than the post they were copying, and every number after that quietly stopped applying to them.
So this is the boring post. It is also, I think, the most useful one on this site.
The one sentence that fixes most of it
The vial does not have a dose in it. It has an amount of powder. What you inject is a volume, and volume only means something once you know the concentration you created. Same 10mg vial, two different water amounts, two completely different syringe fills for the identical dose.
That is why "I use 20 units" is a meaningless instruction from a stranger. It is not wrong exactly, it is just incomplete in the way that matters. Without their vial size and their water volume, that number is trivia.
Where people actually slip
- Copying someone's unit count without matching their reconstitution. The most common mistake by a mile.
- Assuming a vial is 5mg because most are, when the label says 10mg. Half or double your intended dose, from one glance.
- Mixing mcg and mg mid-calculation. 250mcg and 0.25mg are the same thing, and people still lose a decimal place under a bathroom light at 6am.
- Reading the syringe barrel as milliliters when the markings are insulin units. A 1mL insulin syringe is 100 units, so 10 units is 0.1mL.
- Blasting the water straight into the powder and shaking it like a cocktail. Aim the stream at the glass wall, let it dissolve on its own, swirl gently if you must.

Why I like fewer, rounder numbers
My honest preference: pick a water volume that makes your dose land on an easy mark. Not because precision does not matter, but because tired people misread awkward fractions. If your target dose sits at 20 units instead of 13.5, you will make fewer mistakes over months, and months is the timescale that decides outcomes.
More water is not weaker in any meaningful sense either. It is the same milligrams spread over more volume, which usually makes small doses easier to measure, not harder. People treat dilution like a loss. It is mostly a legibility upgrade.
Storage, the part treated as an afterthought
Lyophilized powder is forgiving. Reconstituted peptide is not. Once water is in there, it belongs in the fridge, away from light, and it has a shelf life measured in weeks rather than seasons. Do not freeze something you already mixed, do not leave it on the counter because you will remember later, and if it looks cloudy or has floaters that were not there before, stop.
The related point nobody enjoys: bacteriostatic water is not sterile water. The preservative is what lets you enter the vial more than once. Plain sterile water does not, which is exactly the sort of detail that hides in a forum reply and never makes it into the screenshot.
Do the math twice, on paper, once
I ask people to write it down the first time, once per new vial: vial strength, water added, resulting concentration, target dose, syringe fill. Five lines. Then check the fill against a calculator rather than the other way around. If the two disagree, one of your assumptions is wrong, and finding out at the desk is much better than finding out afterward.
After a couple of cycles this becomes automatic and you will stop needing the paper. That is the goal. Not memorizing someone else's unit count, but knowing why yours is what it is.
